Portland Math Tutor, LLC is now Online Math Tutoroffering online math tutoring!

Students benefit from a professional online math tutor. With the use of video and screen sharing apps, I am able to provide an engaging learning experience for math students. Students and tutor view each other’s writing in real-time and are able to interact with the material together.

  • Centralized documents
  • Ability to monitor progress
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Engaging technology
  • No additional fees or subscriptions

Online tutoring provides students, parents, and math tutor several benefits that support learning. Through the way that I setup my learning environment, students have access to my teaching material online. Having the materials online and in a centralized location ensures that papers don’t get lost and lessons can be referred back to when students need a reminder.  Because students as well as parents have access to an online folder with the lessons, parents are easily able to check in on student progress.

Example Online Whiteboard:

Here is an example of a whiteboard from a session this Spring working with a student on the Unit Circle and Radian measures. In this session the student had an assignment from class. She simply sent me photos via text message. We worked on the current assignment that she had but I was also able to share extra practice material with an answer key that she could reference after our session. View full screen!

Zoom Videoconferencing

Through the use of screen sharing, I am able to guide students through lessons as if we were in the same room. Students and tutor are able to see each other’s writing in real time creating an immersive math tutoring experience. For example I am able to teach students how to use their graphing calculators by sharing a calculator emulator form my computer screen.

Example of graphing calculator. emulator.

Tutoring sessions are followed up by assignments for students to work on between sessions. During our subsequent meeting times, we are able to easily review completed assignments and remediate as needed.

Online math tutoring provides added flexibility for all parties. Life is busy and scheduling an in-person tutoring session can be a logistical nightmare. Fortunately, online tutoring can fit into your schedule easily as students aren’t necessarily required to be at a specific location.

Assessments / Progress Tracking

I use online assessment and progress tracking for all grades and subjects. Opting is free for all current clients. The initial placement identifies knowledge gaps and allows us to set goals for the tutoring sessions. While the ongoing progress tracking, continues to follow students as they progress through their course work. All assessments/progress tracking is accessed online and can be done at students convenience.
