Mr. Laiche tutored our 8th grade daughter along with two friends for about 6 months to give her and them better support than they were able to get through their own math class. These comments also reflect her input. Mr. Laiche was responsive, kind, and able to zero in immediately on their needs. He was good at delivering feedback in a constructive way and allowed room for questions. He provided a good balance of promoting the kids to figure things out independently but with good instruction. He engaged the kids personably but with the right mix that focused mostly on math. We highly recommend him! They are definitely ready for high school math because of him!!

My daughter had been doing Kumon for a few years and was finding it hard to stay motivated. We decided to try a tutor and found Mr. Drew Laiche, of Portland Math Tutor. Wow! What a great change in her attitude and interest in math. I'm 100% confident she will be set for the challenges of high school math and physics. Great teacher and great business. Drew tutors both of my daughters who are at different math levels (Junior, Pre-Calc and 8th grade, Compacted math). He flawlessly transitions from one to the other. Both of my daughters have said he has been a huge help and they really enjoy working with him. We appreciate that he can come to the house and scheduling has been easy. My girls would highly recommend him!

We’ve seen huge progress in our daughter (8th grade, PPS) since joining up with Drew! We transitioned from another tutor and noticed an immediate difference in her attitude and confidence.

The online tutoring setup has been a great fit, even after returning to in-person classes. It’s also been super convenient for our busy schedule, even taking tutoring sessions while traveling.

Drew follows the same methods as the classroom to keep things consistent… takes a holistic approach to best support her learning style/needs… identifies learning gaps and goes back to (re)build that foundation… strikes the right balance of kindness, patience, fun, and accountability… and has been extremely flexible and reliable with us as parents.

Drew is fantastic! We worked with him for the first time thru all of distance learning and will continue with him once the girls are back in school as well. He’s very patient and communicative. Our oldest daughter chose to switch to compact math because she “felt more confident” since starting math tutoring with Drew, and our youngest “doesn’t hate math anymore” :) We highly recommend Drew - in fact our 2 closest family friends use him too.

Mr. Laiche is patient and clear in his explanations of math with our middle school child who will not take math help from parents. We appreciate his familiarity with the PPS math curriculum. He is able to answer questions from during the week when topics are not covered clearly in our child's classroom instruction and helps to work ahead when possible.

Drew Laiche currently tutors my son in math. My son has always struggled with understanding and retaining math skills. Despite my son's resistance to math instruction in school, he enjoys his tutoring sessions with Drew. My son also struggles a great deal with focus and Drew is always upbeat and patient with him. I appreciate Drew's persistence and commitment to my son's education. He is easy to communicate with and has set up online instruction for my son to access from home. I highly recommend Drew as a math tutor.
