A Gateway to Interactive Learning

Nestled in the heart of Alton Baker Park, the Eugene Science Center is a favorite destination for families looking to spark curiosity and a love of science. As the region’s only hands-on science museum and planetarium, it offers interactive exhibits and engaging educational programs that make learning fun for visitors of all ages.

Engaging Exhibits and Hands-On Learning

The Eugene Science Center is all about making science exciting and accessible. Its mission is to inspire kids to explore the world around them and use science and technology to solve real-world problems. The center features a rotating collection of exhibits, so there’s always something new to check out. Whether you’re experimenting with physics, learning about ecosystems, or getting hands-on with engineering challenges, there’s something for every curious mind.

STEM Programs and Activities for Kids

The Eugene Science Center offers a variety of programs designed to engage kids in STEM learning beyond regular visits:

  • School Break Camps: Spring and summer camps provide hands-on science activities, crafts, and outdoor explorations in Alton Baker Park.
  • No School Day Workshops: On school closure days, K-5 students can participate in STEM activities, ensuring learning continues beyond the classroom.
  • Girls’ Science Adventures: A Saturday workshop series designed to engage girls in STEM through hands-on activities led by expert mentors.
  • Tot Discovery Days: Monthly drop-in programs offering interactive learning for children under five in a big-kid-free environment.
  • Next Gen STEM: A free, five-session virtual program that includes at-home labs, expert interviews, and engaging STEM challenges for kids.

Stellar Adventures in the Planetarium

One of the highlights of the center is its planetarium, which brings the wonders of space to life with breathtaking visuals and immersive shows. The high-tech digital projector takes audiences on incredible journeys—whether it’s exploring distant galaxies, identifying constellations in the night sky, or experiencing a laser show set to music. It’s an out-of-this-world experience that both kids and adults will love.
