We’re excited to welcome Daniel Wang (Ph.D.) to our tutoring team at Portland Math Tutor, LLC and Eugene Math Tutor. Daniel brings exceptional depth in higher-level mathematics, a calm and structured teaching style, and a proven ability to help students master even the most challenging concepts in calculus.
Daniel earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Oregon, where he also completed his master’s degree. He went on to teach at the university level for nearly a decade—serving as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Sam Houston State University in Texas and at Trinity College in Connecticut. His university courses included Calculus I, II, and III, Differential Equations, Fourier Analysis, and Advanced Real Analysis, as well as Precalculus and Trigonometric courses. He draws on his broad expertise to guide students through even the most rigorous math courses.
Now based in Eugene, Oregon, Daniel brings this deep expertise to one-on-one tutoring both in person and online, working with middle school, high school, and college students. His extensive background allows him to guide AP Calculus AB and BC students through the most demanding parts of the curriculum—limits, derivatives, integrals, and series—with precision and clarity. He also supports students in the IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) and Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (AI) courses at both Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL), helping them develop the conceptual depth and analytical skills needed to excel in the IB Diploma Programme. He is particularly fond of the IB experience, having completed both the HL Mathematics and HL Physics courses for his own IB Diploma.
